Location:In Will County in northeast Illinois, 10 miles south of Joliet and 55 miles southwest of Chicago, off I-55.
Facilities:Class C campsites with water and pit toilets, 2 picnic areas, picnicshelter, playground, 2 boat ramps, handtrap range, archery range, dogfield-trial training area.
Activities:Camping, boating (10 HP maximum on backwaters, unlimited on river, noboats on Milliken lake), fishing, hiking, hunting, icefishing.
Special Features:The largest pheasant hunting facility in the state of Illinois islocated at this site, and Milliken Lake, along with severalponds and river backwaters, offer panfish, catfish, and bass fishing.In addition, the Kankakee River borders the site on the south, with 3miles of shoreline providing access to boatingenthusiasts as well as walleye and northern pike fishing. The area alsoincludes an 80-acre nature preserve containing remnants of naturalprairie.
