Court of Session n (Law) the supreme civil court in Scotland Court of Session
Related to Court of Session: Inner HouseCourt of Session Scotland's supreme civil court located in Scotland. It is divided into an Outer House, which deals with important cases at first instances, and an Inner House, which (except for a few unusual matters) acts as a court of appeal. The decisions of the Inner House can be appealed to the House of Lords (save for a few special cases). Thus the court is not the supreme court of Scotland. The Privy Council has a jurisdiction in relation to devolution issues which include human rights obligations of the devolved body. |
