释义 | Bonner, JohnBonner, John(1643–1726) mariner, mapmaker; possibly born in London. He came to Boston around 1670. He entered the merchant trade and came to own a number of ships. Three of his vessels were used in the Puritan attack on Quebec (1690) and one was used to carry a flag of truce to Quebec (1706) and then to bring back the "redeemed captive," Reverend John Williams (1707). Bonner was the chief pilot on Admiral Walker's expedition against Canada (1711). Bonner made numerous maps of Boston harbor and the coast of North America. He married four times. |
