bone survey

bone survey

A radiographic assessment of all of the bones of the body to identify foci of malignancy—e.g., multiple myeloma, Langerhans cell histiocytosis or symptomatic metastases. It is considered insensitive to screen for asymptomatic metastases.
As outlined by the National Guideline Clearinghouse, bone surveys have a low diagnostic yield and are only indicated if it has been a long time since the last survey.
