State: North CarolinaOn October 30, 2005 and friend and I were out at a club when a fight broke out between my friend and another girl well in the process the girl that was fighting my friend her sister jumped in well I went to get everyone broke up and the sister was trying to fight me so I slammed her on the ground and got on top of her I was not hitting her she was pulling my hair but I was holding her down any way we went to jail and we both got a charge of simple affray we went to court on 11-28-05 it was continued but now we both have separate court dates but we want to get it dismissed because it was not our fight we were just protecting our friends i have never been in trouble and neither has she I don't need this on my record what is simple affray?

Make sure you get counsel (or at least the public defender) to try to keep this off your record eventually--jail time is probably not likely if your record is very clear now. But having that arrest and/or a conviction on your record will make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision and kept off your record,etc.
