Carbolite

a type of synthetic phenolaldehyde resin obtained by the polycondensation of phenol (cresol) with formalde-hyde in the presence of petroleum sulfoacids, a process knownas G. S. Petrov’s catalysis. Carbolite was first produced in Russiain 1914.
