Bombardment Ship

a sailing ship with two masts of the end of the 17th century to the beginning of the 19th, with 20 heavy caliber cannon or two to four artillery mortars. Bombardment ships first appeared in 1681 in France. They were designed for shelling coastal fortresses and were exceptionally stable. Bombardment ships were used in the Russian Navy until 1828.
