Neonatology A complex of symptoms that may affect infants with the congenital rubella syndrome; in addition to the typical findings of rubella–congenital heart disease, corneal clouding, microcephaly, mental retardation, deafness, ERS Sx include hepatosplenomegaly, thrombocytopenic purpura, intrauterine growth retardation, interstitial pneumonia, myocarditis, metaphyseal bone lesions.
