Bol’shaia Ussurka

(formerly Iman), a river in Primor’e Krai, RSFSR; right tributary of the Ussuri (Amur basin). Length, 440 km; basin area, 29,600 sq km. Rises in the Sikhote-Alin’ Range. In its upper course it flows through a narrow valley; farther downstream it flows through a band of foothills, where it divides into channels. The river is fed mainly by rain. The average rate of flow at the village of Vaguton is 16.6 m³/sec. The Bol’shaia Ussurka freezes at the end of November and thaws in mid-April. It is suitable for flotation of logs up to a point 235 km from its mouth and is navigable in its lower course. [10–413–4; updated]
