Bolotov, Aleksei Pavlovich
Born Mar. 17 (29), 1803, in Orlov Province; died Mar. 6 (18), 1853, in Marseille. Russian geodesist.
Bolotov was professor of geodesy and topography at the General Staff Academy (1832). He was the author of basic works that played an important role in the training of geodesists and topographers and the development of methods of geodetic work in Russia. Bolotov worked out one of the scales for showing relief with hachures on plans and maps.
