That great circle of the celestial sphere through the celestial poles and equinoxes. The hour circle of the vernal equinox. It is an imaginary point among the stars where the sun apparently crosses the equator from south to north on or about March 20 through 23 of each year. Also called a vernal equinox or a spring equinox.
