Chloropseudomonas Chloropseudomonas[‚klȯr·ō‚süd·ə′mō·nəs] (microbiology) An invalid genus of bacteria; originally described as a member of the family Chlorobiaceae, with motile rod-shaped cells, without gas vacuoles, containing bacteriochlorophyll c, and capable of photoheterotrophic growth; cultures now known to be symbiotic of one of a number of typical Chlorobiaceae and a chemoorganotrophic bacterium capable of reducing elemental sulfur to sulfide. |
