equilibrium radionuclide angiography

equilibrium radionuclide angio(cardio)graphy

Cardiology A technique in which an objective signal–eg, the EKG, is used to 'gate' or physiologically mark the otherwise static imaging of the cardiac blood pool; ERNA is used to evaluate the right and left ventricles–hence the synonym equilibrium radionuclide ventriculography in terms of volumes, as well as systolic and diastolic function, and regional or global myocardial performance, which is altered in MI. Cf First-pass radionuclide ventriculography.
