Desiatni
Desiatni
in the Russian state in the 16th and 17th centuries, lists of district sluzhilye liudi (military servitors), including dvoriane (nobility or gentry), deti boiarskie (second-rank nobility), and cossacks. The desiatni were compiled at the time of inspection, verstanie (enrollment in service), and determination and distribution of the pay of the sluzhilye liudi. In the desiatni the degree of combat suitability of the older sluzhilye liudi was noted, noviki (young dvoriane who were fit for service) were registered, and note was made of nedorosli (minors’, dvoriane below the minimum service age).
