On the central eastern border of MN, northeast of Minneapolis; established Sep 1, 1851 (prior to statehood) from Washington County. Name Origin: For Chisago Lake, largest in the county; from Ojibway kichi 'large' and saga 'fair' or 'beautiful.' The first syllable was omitted and a clerical error changed a to o.
