Bochco, Steven

(1943– ) television writer, producer; born in New York City. He worked as a screenwriter and story editor for shows like Colombo during the 1970s. He created Hill Street Blues (1981–87) and LA Law (1986) for the National Broadcasting Company, both dramatic series with ensemble acting and overlapping plots. Under contract with ABC, he introduced Doogie Howser, MD in 1989 and the controversial NYPD Blue in 1993.
