(Damaraland), a plateau in Namibia (South West Africa). It rises above the Namibian coastal desert at an average altitude of 1,000–1,500 m, reaching a maximum altitude of 2,600 m at Mount Brandberg. The climate is tropical and semidesert. Annual precipitation is only 250–500 mm. In the east the vegetation is desert savanna, and in the west it is grass, scrub, and succulent desert.
