Dalverzin Steppe
Dal’verzin Steppe
a plain on the right bank of the Syr Darya River in the Fergana valley of the Uzbek SSR and the Tadzhik SSR. The spurs of the Kuramin Range border it to the east. The surface is even, slightly hilly in places. There are meadow-alluvial and gray earth soils. In the spring the steppe is covered by sedge-meadowgrass ephemeral vegetation, and closer to the mountains it becomes a herbaceous steppe of various grasses. Its vast expanses are irrigated by the waters of the Farkhad Reservoir. Cotton grows in the steppe; there is horticulture. Sheep raising is carried on.
