Electric Ferrotype Machine

Electric Ferrotype Machine

an electric device for imparting a glazed finish to the surface of a photographic print made on glossy paper. The principal component of the device is a polished, chrome-plated steel drum or a set of plates, inside of which is mounted an electric heating element (used to shorten the time required for the photographic paper to dry). The image side of the paper is rolled onto the drum or plate, for example, with a rubber roller. After drying, it acquires a glazed finish.
