East Australian Current
a warm current of the Pacific Ocean on the eastern shore of Australia, a branch of the South Trade Winds current. It is directed from north to south, turning eastward near the island of Tasmania. Its speed reaches 2 km/hr. The water temperature in February ranges from 26° C in the north to 17° C in the south, and in July from 22° C to 12° C. Its salinity is around 35.5 parts per thousand.
