endoluminal sleeve endoluminal sleeve, ELS.A flexible tube attached to the inside of the duodenum to block the absorption of nutrients by the proximal small intestine. It prevents the modification of consumed foods by bile and pancreatic enzymes (a process that normally takes place in the duodenum) and delivers unprocessed nutrients to the jejunum. It is used in bariatric surgery. |
