In 1968 the department’s industry employed 35 percent of the economically active population, and agriculture employed 19 percent. A variety of industries are located in the department’s cities: the production of wool fabrics and celluloid in Evreux and Louviers, machine building in Evreux and Breteuil, production of cotton fabrics in Fleury-sur-Andelle, and food processing and the manufacture of plastics in Ezy-sur-Eure. Eure’s agricultural activities include dairy farming and the cultivation of wheat, potatoes, and fodder crops.
