Commission for Health Improvement

An independent statutory UK body (quango) which monitored and supported quality control in the NHS, which was charged with identifying and encouraging adoption of best practice and highlighting areas where urgent improvement was required. It was established by the Health Act 1999, and disbanded in 2004; its functions were subsumed by the Healthcare Commission.
