dermaseptins S

Any of a family of eight amphipathic alph-helical antimicrobial peptides, first isolated from the skin of a tree-dwelling South American frog (Phyllomedusa sauvagei). Dermaseptins S are active against various sexually transmitted infection-causing pathogens and HIV/herpes simplex viruses; they also have contraceptive (spermicidal) activity.
