Daiakhatyn
Daiakhatyn
an 11th-century caravan shelter in Turk-menia. It is on the ancient road between Khorasan and Khorezm, 170 km to the northeast of present-day Chardzhou, within the defensive walls of the rabat (fortified camp) of Takhiriia. It has a symmetrical square plan (with an interior court that has four eiwan entrances and a gallery along the perimeter) and several variants of arched roofs in the interiors (lancet vaults and domes). The adobe walls of Daiakhatyn are faced with fired brick, and the main and court facades are covered with brick laid in a design (the ornamentation is geometric and epigraphic).
