Can·i·a·pis·cau K0010700 (kăn′ē-ə-pĭs′kō, -kou) A river of northern Quebec, Canada, flowing about 730 km (450 mi) from the Caniapiscau Reservoir northward to the Koksoak River. Since the construction of the reservoir in 1985, most of its headwaters have been diverted to James Bay.Caniapiscau
Caniapiscau (kănyəpĭs`kô'), river, c.575 mi (930 km) long, issuing from Caniapiscau Lake, NE Que., Canada. It flows generally NW past Fort Mackenzie and joins the Mélèzes to form the Koksoak River, which then flows NE to Ungava Bay at Kuujjuaq. The river's lower course drains part of the iron belt of N Quebec. |
