Command Post CP

the main post from which troops in combat and operations are controlled.

A command post is set up on an operational axis and at a distance from the front line to ensure uninterrupted and reliable control of the subordinate and coordinating units of various sizes and the maintenance of continuous communications with the superior headquarters. A command post is set up secretly and dispersed as much as possible; camouflage and defense measures are taken.

At a command post, in addition to the commander, there are the commander’s deputies, most of his staff, and the chiefs of combat arms and services required by the table of operations. The commander decides on the location, operational axis, and procedure for relocation of the command post; in some cases the superior headquarters decides its location. Besides the main command post, other control posts may be set up, such as an advance or alternate command post and a rear control post. When a command post is moved (to a different area), care is taken not to disrupt the control of troops.
