Ferroboron
ferroboron
[¦fe·rō′bȯ‚rän]Ferroboron
a ferroalloy containing 10–25 percent B, 2–5 percent Si, and 2–5 percent Al (Fe constituting the remainder). It is obtained in ore heat-treating furnaces by the aluminothermic method from borate ore or boric anhydride. Ferroboron and other alloys of iron with boron (Ferroboral or Grainal) are used for alloying, deoxidizing, and modifying steel.
