Dragon TreeDragon Tree(Dracaena draco), a tree of the genus Dracaena of the family Agavaceae. The thick, branching trunk attains a height of up to 20 m, with a diameter of up to 4 m at the base, and has a secondary growth in thickness. The leaves are linear, leathery, and long, growing in fascicles at the ends of the branches. The flowers are large, bisexual, and regular, with a petaloid, choriphyllous perianth, and are found in fascicles of two to four. The dragon tree grows on the Canary Islands and the island of Socotra; some trees live to 5,000 or 6,000 years. A resin called dragon’s blood flows from incisions in the bark.
