childhood gender nonconformity
childhood gender nonconformity A term for a situation in which the psychosocial gender role that a child adopts is at variance with the child’s phenotypic sex, including cross-dressing, opposite-sex grooming and opposite-sex play (i.e., boys playing with dolls, girls playing with toy guns, etc.). Data suggest that CGN is predictive of future gay/bisexual/transgender behaviour, though the validity of some of the studies has been questioned. |
