fe·cal fat test (fē'kăl fat test) Laboratory-based measurement of lipid matter in stool to determine disorders. fecal fat test (fē′kăl) The measurement of the total quantity of lipids in a timed stool specimen, as a part of the evaluation of chronic diarrhea, esp. when fat malabsorption is suspected. The collected feces must not be contaminated by urine or by chemicals used in toilets. High levels of fecal fat (e.g., more than 14 g/day) suggest biliary, pancreatic, or small bowel disorders. |
