Firth of ClydeClyde, Firth ofa firth in the Irish Sea, on the west coast of Scotland. The firth is about 140 km long and ranges in depth from 33 to 164 m. The width is 40 km at the entrance and 5.5 km at the tip. The tides are semidiurnal, rising to 4 m. The Clyde River empties into the firth, the major ports of which are Greenock, Dumbarton, and Clyde (on the Clyde River).
