Chikhachev Bay
Chikhachev Bay
(until 1952, De-Kastri Gulf), an inlet of the Sea of Japan off the western coast of the Tatar Strait. Chikhachev Bay measures approximately 12.5 km in length and width at the entrance. It has depths to 9 m. The bay is covered with ice in winter; in summer the water temperature at the surface reaches 14°C. Tides are semidiurnal, with an approximate range of 1 m. The port of De-Kastri is situated on the bay.
