Foundation Programme Foundation Programme The now-standard, completely revamped programme for training doctors in the UK, in which each doctor, upon completion of medical school, rotates through electives for two years before beginning his/her specialty training. The Programme’s intent is that doctors have the opportunity to sample a variety of clinical and nonclinical disciplines to be able to optimise their general skills; acquire the knowledge, skills, competencies, and attitudes to provide high standard medical care to all patients; inform career decisions; prepare solid foundations for future specialty training; and incorporate the philosophy of lifelong learning. |
