[‚as·trō·‚jē·ə′ded·ik ′lev·əl·iŋ] (geodesy) A concept whereby the astrogeodetic deflections of the vertical are used to determine the separation of the ellipsoid and the geoid in studying the figure of the earth. Also known as astronomical leveling.
