Corynebacteriosis
Corynebacteriosis
an infectious disease of sheep, characterized by affection of the organs of sight and the joints. Man is also susceptible to corynebacteriosis.
The causative agent of corynebacteriosis is a bacterium of the genus Corynebacterium. The sources of the agent are the diseased animals and the animal carriers of the bacterium. Corynebacteriosis is diagnosed by its clinical symptoms and by bacteriological testing. Antibiotics of the tetracycline series are used for treatment. Isolation of the diseased animals and veterinary sanitation help to prevent the occurrence of corynebacteriosis.
