Elbe-Trave Canal
Elbe-Trave Canal
(also Elbe-Lübeck Canal), a navigation canal in the Federal Republic of Germany that links the Elbe River at Lauenburg with the Trave River at Lübeck, near the place where the Trave empties into Lübeck Bay of the Baltic Sea. The canal, which opened in 1900, is 61.5 km long and 2.5 m deep; it has seven locks. The canal can accommodate vessels with a displacement of up to 1,000 tons.
