a glacier in the Hindu Kush and the largest glacier in the mountains of Hindu Raj, lowering from 6,400 to 3,660 m. Chiantar is 32 km long and covers an area of 260 sq km. It is a compound valley glacier with numerous tributaries; its meltwater flows into the Kunar River of the Indus River basin.
