camptonite

[′kam·tə‚nīt] (petrology) A lamprophyre containing pyroxene, sodic hornblende, and olivine as dark constituents and labradorite as the light constituent; sodic orthoclase may be present.

Camptonite

 

magmatic dike rock consisting of plagioclase (usually labrador) and brown amphibole (barkevikite); it also contains pyroxene (titanaugite), biotite, and olivine. All varieties (amphibole camptonite, biotite camptonite, and others) usually contain a good deal of secondary calcite and zeolite, which either fill amygdules or form irregular secretions.
