Camouflet Blasting
Camouflet Blasting
the explosion of deep-lying explosive charges, which destroys or deforms the surrounding medium but does not cause residual deformation of the surface. Camouflet blasting is used to form underground cavities as storage areas for liquids and gases, to break up solid mineral products at great depths for the purpose of extracting them by mining or leaching, to reduce the stability of a coal mass and give it the necessary pliability when seams being worked are dangerous in terms of sudden blowouts of coal and gas, and to discharge rock pressure and degas such seams (camouflet-squall blasting with charges set in an area of stress concentration in front of the working face).[ll–847–4]
