Special Features:In the early 1800s, after a devastating journey from Georgia over the Trail of Tears, the Cherokee Indians came to this area and built a nation. The park lies in the heart of Cherokee Territory, on the north shore of 12,500-acre Lake Tenkiller, surrounded by thick pine forests.
