Chepurkovskii, Efim Mikhailovich

 

Born Jan. 20 (Feb. 1), 1871, in Kiev; died 1950. Russian anthropologist. Master of sciences (1913).

Chepurkovskii emigrated to the USA on the eve of World War II. His major works deal with the geographical distribution of anthropological features and the anthropology of the Russian people. Chepurkovskii also wrote works on general anthropology. He was the first in Russia to make use of statistical methods in the study of anthropological material. He also wrote a critical analysis of anthroposociological theories. Some of Chepurkovskii’s general theoretical views are erroneous.
