释义 | Blakeslee, HowardBlakeslee, Howard (Walter)(1880–1952) journalist, science writer; born in New Dungeness, Washington Territory. Expelled from the University of Michigan for his student reporting—he later received an honorary degree (1935)—he eventually became a reporter and science writer for the Associated Press (1928–52). He and four colleagues received the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for local reporting. His long career in journalism (1901–52) was highlighted by his pioneering reporting of the growth of science in American life. He reported on the atomic bomb tests at Bikini (1946) and wrote Atomic Progress, The Hydrogen Race (1951). |
