Ekhegnadzor

 

an urban-type settlement and the administrative center of Ekhegnadzor Raion, Armenian SSR. It is a highway junction located on the right bank of the Arpa River (a tributary of the Araks), 58 km northeast of the Eraskh railway station (on the Yerevan-Dzhul’fa line). Population, 5,000 (1970). Ekhegnadzor has a food industry, a carpet factory, a poultry incubator farm, and a grape-growing sovkhoz. There is a branch of the Yerevan electrical engineering technicum, as well as a people’s amateur theater and a museum of local lore.
