E-Aminocaproic Acid
ε-aminocaproic acid[¦ep·sə‚lən ə¦mē·nō·kə¦prō·ik ′as·əd] (organic chemistry) C6H13NO2 Crystals with a melting point of 204-206°C; freely soluble in water; used as an antifibrinolytic agent and a spacer for affinity chromatography. E-Aminocaproic Acid NH2(CH2)5COOH; an organic acid in the shape of colorless crystals. It is readily soluble in water and insoluble in ordinary organic solvents. E-aminocaproic acid is usually obtained through hydrolysis of €-caprolactam—the raw material for the production of polyamide kapron resin. It is used for the synthesis of certain amino acids—for example, lysine. e-aminocaproic acid
ε-aminocaproic acid [ep´sĭ-lon-ah-me″no-kah-pro´ik] an amino acid that is a potent inhibitor of plasminogen and plasmin and indirectly of fibrinolysis; used for treatment (as aminocaproic acid) of acute bleeding syndromes due to fibrinolysis and for the prevention and treatment of postsurgical hemorrhage. |
