Ekaterina Kazimirova

Kazimirova, Ekaterina Grigor’evna

 

Born Dec. 8, 1921, in the village of Fedorovka, in the present-day Orgeev Raion. Soviet Moldavian actress; People’s Artist of the Moldavian SSR (1960).

Kazimirova graduated from the Odessa School of Theater and began her stage career in 1939 in the A. S. Pushkin Moldavian Music and Drama Theater in Kishinev. Her best roles include Polina and Katerina in Ostrovskii’s The Profitable Place and The Thunderstorm, Goneril in Shakespeare’s King Lear, Nadia in Gorky’s Enemies, Synziana and Safta in Aleksandri’s Synziana and Pepelia and Iasi at Carnival Time, Zoia in Karadzhale’s The Lost Letter, Nila Snizhko in Salynskii’s The Lady Drummer, Baroness ShtraP in Lermontov’s Masquerade, and Madame Ksidias in Slavin’s Intervention.

Kazimirova was a deputy to the fifth convocation of the Su-preme Soviet of the Moldavian SSR. She was awarded two or-ders and several medals.
