Chemical Projector
Chemical Projector
a type of obsolete chemical weapon designed for destroying personnel or contaminating the ground with toxic chemical agents. Chemical projectors were first used (1917) by the British Army during World War I (1914-18). Chemical projectors consisted of short barrels with a diameter of 18-20 cm and were loaded with mines containing 13-14 kg of toxic chemical agents. They were set up on supporting slabs dug into the earth. Several hundred chemical projectors would fire simultaneously in volleys reaching up to 1.2 km.
