Ackeret method

Ackeret method

[′ak·ə·rət ‚meth·əd] (fluid mechanics) A method of studying the behavior of an airfoil in a supersonic airstream based on the hypothesis that the disturbance caused by the airfoil consists of two plane waves, at the leading and trailing edges, which propagate outward like sound waves and each makes an angle equal to the Mach angle with the direction of flow.
