Etruria

 

a kingdom in Italy that existed from 1801 to 1807. A dependency of France, the Kingdom of Etruria was formed by Napoleon Bonaparte after the Grand Duchy of Tuscany was defeated by his forces. The kingdom’s name was derived from the ancient name of the region of Tuscany, which was inhabited by the Etruscans. In late 1807 the Kingdom of Etruria was abolished, and its territory incorporated into the French Empire.
