Cornelius Viktorin Ze Všehrd
Born in 1460 in Chrudim; died in 1520 in Prague. Czech jurist, humanist, and educator. After studying philosophy at the University of Prague, he became assistant to the highest notary of Bohemia. His classic work, Nine Books on the Laws of the Bohemian Land (two versions are known, those of 1497 and 1507), was properly appreciated only in the 19th century as an outstanding achievement of Czech culture. Cornelius Viktorin gave particular attention to urban law, an important problem at the time.
